Daily Devotion: The Lord My Inheritance

The Lord My Inheritance? Literally, the phrase “The Lord My Inheritance” means that God is our greatest treasure and reward.

In life, people often seek wealth, success or possessions but this reminds us that the most valuable thing we can have is a relationship with God, our creator.

When the Bible talks about God as our inheritance, it means He provides everything we need. He gives us love, peace, joy and eternal life.

Unlike material things that can fade or be lost, God’s blessings last forever. He is always faithful and will never leave us.

The idea of God as our inheritance also means that we belong to Him and He belongs to us. Just as an inheritance is passed down to someone, God has chosen to give us His kingdom and all His promises.

This shows how much He loves us and wants to take care of us. When we trust God and see Him as our inheritance, we can feel secure and content.

We don’t have to worry about losing earthly things because we have something far better, God Himself. He is our strength, hope and eternal reward.

Daily Devotion: The Lord My Inheritance

However, my todays anchor scripture reads; “The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou mainainest my lot.” Psalms 16:5

The Psalm above shows how the Psalmist was very intimate with God. We must also ask ourselves how intimate we are with God.

The Psalmist considered God as his inheritance and his cup. We are living in an era where people are amassing wealth without the fear of God; even materialism has entered into the house of God or church.

However, there are still remnants of Christians who have made the Lord their inheritance. Are you one of them, if I may ask?

When the Lord is your inheritance, favour will always be on you so you can boldly declare, “the lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have goodly heritage.”

My dear, what is your most precious inheritance? The Lord My Inheritance? Share your thought below..
