Daily devotion: humility pays? As a Christian, it’s clear to us that God loves a humble heart. In the book of James 4:10 it says, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” This means that when we stay humble, God will bless and promote us in His perfect time.
Humility is not weakness; it is strength under control. Jesus, the Son of God, showed the greatest humility. Even though He had all power, He chose to serve others.
The book of Philippians 2:8 says, “He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!” Because of His humility, God raised Him above all.
Pride brings downfall, but humility brings honor. When we are proud, we rely on ourselves instead of God. But when we are humble, we trust God to guide and bless us. He lifts up those who put Him first.
Humility also helps us in our relationships. It teaches us to be kind, patient and forgiving. People respect those who are humble and willing to serve others.

My today’s anchor scripture reads; “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time” 1 Peter 5:6
Jesus indeed is the author and finisher of our faith; He humbled himself unto the father and even unto death on the cross.
God witnessed this, resurrected Him, and gave Him a name which is above every name in heaven, on earth, and under the earth.
King David humbled himself in service to his father, Jesse, and God chose and anointed him king over Israel. Moses humbled himself and was appointed by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.
The same applies to Joshua, Jephthah, Gideon, Peter, Paul, etc.: all these people humbled themselves and God exalted them in due time.
My dear beloved, are you humble in all your ways? If you are then there is a lifting up waiting for you.
