The Vision Is Yours And Not Theirs…Some years ago, precisely in the year 2017, I was posted in Katsina State, Nigeria (Northern Nigeria) for my one year National service commonly know as NYSC.
There at the camp, I got an appointment to work with a Non Governmental Oganisation (NGO) called VSO (Volunteer Service Overseas).
It was a two (2) years programme and I was posted in Muduru, Mani Local Government Area (L.G.A) for the service period. The programme help shaped my understanding about different culture & cuisines.
With that been said, during that programme, I joined one Pentecostal church over there (I don’t want to mention the name) and I decided to serve in the choir department.
In reality, I love singing songs because songs or music, despite the genre, has been part of my childhood development.
But I haven’t sang in a churh before and I don’t no whether I’m Ortho, Soprano or Tenor. All I know is that I love music in general.
Well, as time pass by, my learning curve was appreciating but still I was shy coming out to lead, instaed I stay behind a backup singer.
One day the Choir leader asked me what I do for a living as a fresh graduate who finished NYSC service recently.
I told him that I’m a content writer and I have passion writing articles, though I’m a Biochemist by profession.
The leader happened to be the only one I opened up to concerning my personal career in that very church.
But one faithful Saturday evening around 4:50 PM, as I was coming for choir rehearsal against Sunday service, I heard one assistant pastor replying someone who asked him what I do for a living.
The assistant pastor replied by saying “HE SAID HE IS DOING BLOGGING, THAT’S ALL HE DO.”
Lol and behold, I walked in and both of them looked at me in a mockery manner. I flashed my depressed face on the man of God and he acted as if he didn’t notice the dejection on my face.
Honestly, the whole day was messed up for me. Remember, I didn’t tell him anything and he has never asked me what I do for a living as one of the pastors of the church.
Rather, he choosed to mock and talk down on his member, as if he doesn’t know that gossiping is considered a sin in the circle of faithful believers.
To him, anyone blogging is a fool, wasting time and he or she amounts nothing in life. But look at me today, God has been faithful in my life and my blogging journey.
Now I develop and manage different organisations’ platforms. I’m working in Specialist Hospital as a Mental Health Support Worker and I manage their official website as well.
My dear, in life always put God first and any vision you have bear in mind that it’s yours and not theirs.
I know in one way or the other, you have been taunted, mocked like me, laughed at, gossiped about and regarded as nobody, but hold on to that God-given vision.
Don’t be sad about their fragile words towards you. People MUST talk but never allow them to define you or your future.
Concerning your VISION, although it may take time or it may experience some delays but stick with it and hold God firm, you will be victorious.
It’s important to know that some of those who call you all sort of negative names might be family friends, pastors or men of God, doctors, intellectuals, your boy/girl friends, colleagues, even parents. Yes, it comes from those around you.
But remember, the vision is between you and your CREATOR alone, it’s not theirs and it will never be theirs.
It’s yours and NEVER allow “no sayers” to get you distracted. God is on your matter.
See you in my next article…..
