Whether you are a student, a mom, dad, worker or a staff member, you can attest to just how busy your days can be. With homework to do, family responsibilities or chores, deadlines to meet and obligations to honour. In general, it’s difficult to find time to complete a workout. However, despite having much to accomplish with limited time of execution, here are some tips to help you fit fitness into your busy day.
START SMALL: If your current schedule doesn’t allow for you to complete an hour-long workout in five days per week, start with 10 minutes three times per week. As you start to build this habit, begin to increase your workout duration and days per week for enhanced health benefits as starting small and being consistent is the key.
GET AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER: An accountability partner is someone who you trust to hold you accountable for completing your workouts. This very individual may be a workout buddy or friend you meet at the gym and exercise together or just someone who texts you occasionally to confirm you worked out.
BE CREATIVE: If you don’t have time to hit the gym, try to find ways to incorporate fitness into your daily routine. For example, instead of taking the elevator to your office or class, opt for the staircase. Alternatively, if possible ride your bike to work, market or campus rather than driving.
PUT IT ON YOUR CALENDAR: Let your motto to be; if it’s not on my calendar, it’s not happening. Therefore, schedule your workouts like you would any other assignment or appointment. Scheduling your workouts will help you to remain committed in order to reserve that block of time within your hectic schedule.
