Here’s How You Can Boost Your Immune System This Summer

Summer season comes with a lot of challenges. No matter how warm it may be outside, you need to maintain a strong immune system. Change in weather brings many challenges for your body as well.

Your body must acclimate to new weather conditions. Eating food rich in nutrients, exercising regularly, maintaining a good diet are some of the ways how you can maintain your immunity.  You can maintain your immunity in the summer season by following these simple steps.

Exercising is the key

Make sure you exercise regularly as it helps in promoting good blood circulation. It also helps you to get rid of the bacteria from your lungs and airways. Exercising also reduces the release of stress-related hormones.

It also improves your cardiovascular system as well and helps cells to move better.

Eat a balanced diet

Try eating diets rich in vitamins and minerals. Also consume more fruits and vegetables as they help in keeping chronic diseases at bay. Eat foods rich in proteins, zinc and vitamin A, C and E.

Include citrus fruits in your diet as they are rich in Vitamin C and are vital for improving your immunity.

Get enough sleep

You must get enough sleep to boost your immunity. Although hot weather can hamper your sleep, make sure you sleep for 7- 8 hours as good sleep is necessary for your immune system to function properly. Also, ensure your room is properly ventilated.

Vitamin D

Also known as ‘sunshine vitamin, getting enough of Vitamin D is a must in summer season as it helps the body to ward of illness. Try spending some time in the sun to obtain Vitamin D.

Expose your arms and legs to the sun for around 15 minutes a day before applying any sunscreen.

Vitamin C

Eating foods rich in Vitamin C helps in boosting your immunity. Summer is the best time to get Vitamin -C rich fruits like strawberries, oranges, cherries, blackberries, etc.

Natural vitamin-C intake is also necessary for maintaining a stronger immune system.
