Daily Devotion: Sleep in Jesus

Daily Devotion: Sleep In Jesus? In the Bible, “sleep in Jesus” is a way of describing the death of believers. It means that those who trust in Christ do not truly die but rest in Him until they are raised again.

We all know that death can be scary but for Christians or believers like us, it is not the end. Jesus conquered death when He rose from the grave.

He promised eternal life to those who believe in Him. This means that when a believer dies, their spirit goes to be with the Lord and one day, they will be raised again with a new body.

Jesus said in the book of John 11:25, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die.”

This gives us hope and peace at the same time. When we lose loved ones who believe in Christ, we know they are safe with Him in heaven.

Daily Devotion: Sleep in Jesus

“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.” 1 Thessalonians 4:14. That is my anchor scripture and I hope it’s clear to you for proper understanding.

The language that God communicates is very vital in understanding the scriptures. Jesus Christ sees those who die in him as sleeping (John 11:11); the reason is that He sees eternal life in them, therefore, they are not dead but alive.

Believers should embrace the language of God and refrain from weeping and wailing for the dead in Christ as though they have no hope.

In Christ, death is a choice because the just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17). Daily Devotion: Sleep in Jesus? Share your thoughts here!
