Can Lime And Potash Abort Pregnancy?

Can lime and potash abort pregnancy? In a country like Nigeria, where pregnancy out of wedlock, especially among young people could lead to exclusion from the society, stigmatization, and a host of other punishments, it is no surprise that young people, especially young girls have taken to various crude means to remove unwanted pregnancy or perform abortions.

In addition, it’s important to know that abortion is considered illegal here in Nigeria.

It is also perceived to be a taboo and carries a heavy jail sentence up to 14 years imprisonment except if it is performed to save the life of the pregnant woman.

With that said, one of the downsides of engaging in sexual acts with a partner or many partners is the constant search for ways to stop or prevent pregnancy from occurring, especially through flushing out sperm from the body.

Perhaps, there are so many ways known to different people, especially ladies, but the issue there is that some are safe while others can be disastrous not only to the vagina, but to the whole body as well.

Therefore, it is important that you cross-check or scrutinize every advice given to you concerning how to flush out sperm from the body naturally before using them.

However, according to a recent study published in the European Journal of Scientific Research, drinking lime juice could prevent a pregnancy, at least in RATS.

Also, the Nigerian Tribune reports that in Central Nigeria, it is common for young ladies or women to use a lemon juice or lime juice solution as a post-coital douche (occurring or done after sexual intercourse) with the belief that it prevents pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases, such as HIV.

Furthermore, scientists at the University of Lagos have extrapolated findings in RATS to HUMANS and suggest that limes do, indeed, have an anti-fertility properties.

The researchers set out to examine the changes of the ovaries and uterus of Sprague-Dawley rats.

One group of rats received 1ml of aqueous lime juice on pro-estrus day (coming into heat day) while Group 2 rats were administered distilled water as control.

Essentially, the researchers found that in rats, undiluted lime juice alters the rats estrous cycle (this is similar to the menstrual cycle in humans) and partially blocked contraception.

But Can Lime And Potash Abort Pregnancy?

Although lime or lemon juice has been proven scientifically to prevent conception at least in rats, but that should not be attributed to human. And this might be the sole reason why some ladies use lime juice to induce abortion.

Some have said it works better, if the lime juice is mixed with Potash, Alabukun powder or the popular 7up, the carbonated soft drink.

As for me however, how this crude method works is still a mystery and not properly understood, but it has been spoken in whispers among pregnant teenagers and used by some.

Haven’t you heard it…?

To effectively prevent unwanted pregnancy, talk to your DOCTOR concerning the issue, use condoms, oral contraceptives pill, Intrauterine Device commonly known as IUD, contraceptive implant, contraceptive ring/injection or emergency contraceptive pill also known as the “morning pill.”
