“Copines” is a an amazing Afrobeat song by Aya Nakamura, who was born on 10th May 1995 in Bamako, Mali. Aya Danioko, known by her stage name Aya Nakamura [aja nakamuʁa], is a French popular pop singer.

Nakamura published her music online, gaining a following with “Karma” and “J’ai mal”. Dembo Camara, a long-time friend, became her producer and manager. 

However, Copines is a playful song about confidence, relationships and setting boundaries. Here Aya talks about a situation where someone is interested in her but she’s not impressed because he is already involved with one of her friends.

The title “Copines” means “girlfriends” in French and it highlights the importance of loyalty and friendship. Aya calls out the guy for trying to flirt with her while being with someone else, showing that she values her friendships over his attention.
